WHCA CESAREAN BIRTH RATE AND "NTSV" METRIC:
Our practice is proud to support one of the major modern initiatives to reduce the rising Cesarean birth rate in the United States. Created by the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative, this initiative focuses on reducing the Cesarean birth rate amongst first-time moms with a full-term, singleton pregnancy in the head-down position. Affectionately known as the "NTSV" initiative, this metric is meant to help identify ways to support vaginal birth and reducing first birth cesareans. Our practice is proud to report our "NTSV" Cesarean delivery rate of 14.4% at Sky Ridge hospital for the year 2022! While Cesarean births can be life-saving and medically necessary, we strive to avoid Cesarean births when mom and baby's health allow for a vaginal delivery. WHCA is excited to announce that A***n Hilsendager will be joining our practice next month! A***n is an experienced women’s health nurse practitioner who has worked in the Denver community for seven years. We are thrilled to welcome her expertise and warm personality to our team! A***n will be seeing a variety of patients in our practice, but she will have a special role assuming many of Shauna Sandford’s patients, as Shauna will be moving out of state this summer. We will miss Shauna‘s presence greatly, but we are confident that her patients will be in good hands with A***n. Welcome to the group A***n!

After 26 years of practice taking care of such wonderful patients and delivering so many beautiful babies, Dr. Abarca plans to retire at the end of June. Our physicians, staff, and her patients will deeply miss her.

We are truly grateful for everything Dr. Abarca has done for Women’s Health Care Associates. We will miss her expertise, compassion, and unwavering calm presence.
