FHO-Mallory from the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley
Mallory was transported to the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley in 2017 from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. The great news is she was adopted right away.
In February of this year, Mallory’s owner had to make the heartbreaking decision to relinquish her when they were evicted from their home. They had to find another place to live, which unfortunately, didn’t allow dogs.
Once back at HSSPV, Mallory had bloodwork, a dental cleaning, and was groomed. She needed surgery, called a Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO), to treat hip dysplasia, a condition which causes pain in the hip due to progressive arthritis.
Dr. Beth Lewis, one of CVSG’s owners and a boarded veterinary surgeon, performed FHO surgery on April 22 with the help of her surgical team. Mallory is recovering well and will soon be up for adoption again.
Mallory is a mixed breed, friendly girl, who appears to have a wide and diverse heritage. She is approximately 9 yrs. old. After she is sufficiently recovered from surgery, she will be available to enrich a lucky adopter’s life.
CVSG supports the mission of HSSPV by performing four orthopedic procedures annually, free of charge, for pets selected by HSSPV who are in the greatest need. Orthopedic surgeries can make a dramatic change in the quality of a pet’s life and give them years of increased mobility with the relief of reduced pain.
HSSPV is a small, non-profit animal shelter serving the South Metro Denver area by providing innovative care for animals, finding loving homes for animals, and reuniting families. They go the extra mile to provide medical care, work with special needs including behavioral support, and match pets with families able to provide the work and care to meet the pets needs to live a rich and happy life.
