More so, happiest of days to our fearless leader, Dr. Osama Ahmed, for his tireless efforts and resilience in the world of medicine. He had a dream and worked diligently to make it a reality. The concept of BSISA was just that, until he made all the moves and put all the pieces of the puzzle together, making his practice come to fruition. Although we praise and celebrate him every day, today is that much more special because he chose the path to become a doctor and an amazing surgeon. What is a Barricaid device? It is a closure device that helps reduce the rate of disc re-herniation also reducing the need for re-operation . It is placed during the same time as your initial minimally invasive discectomy and doesn’t require any longer surgical time. The implant is anchored to healthy bone with a titanium component that is secured to the adjacent vertebral body and it also includes a flexible polymer component. They now have a narrow device available and Dr Ahmed continues to be at the forefront of Neurosurgery and he continues to break barriers and learn new things to benefit his patients. He remains consistently a leader in new instruments, new surgeries and better outcomes for everyone. He is one of the first in the country to have placed the first new narrow Barricaid Device.
