Photobiomodulation is a therapy based on the concept that we respond to different wavelengths of light. In the case of this class 4 laser, the red and near-infrared light targets mitochondria, effectively stimulating healing, reducing inflammation, and increasing blood flow.
Here I am using the laser on my ankle after a pretty nasty sprain while walking in all of the snow last week, which has provided significant relief.
We have had the opportunity to have this laser for the past 9 months and it is one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of, as it typically provides immediate relief for many conditions, especially acute injuries. Sprains, strains, tendonitis, muscle spasms and trigger points, sacroiliac pain, radiculopathy, and many other conditions have responded incredibly well. The list of conditions it has helped is large and growing, and the list of conditions it hasn't helped is much smaller. It also has a very powerful effect on local immune cells and has treated a number of infections with surprising effectiveness.
Lastly, it has provided relief for traumatic brain injuries and reducing the associated neuroinflammation involved with them, and has had immediate improvements with neurological and cognitive symptoms of several patients with TBI's since we've had the laser.
