🧠✨ What is proprioception?
Proprioception is your child’s body awareness. It’s how their body knows where it is in space without looking!
It helps with things like:
✏️ How hard to press with a pencil
🤗 How tight to hug
🏃♂️ Moving safely, smoothly, and confidently
If a child has trouble with proprioceptive input, you might notice:
🚧 Crashing into people or furniture
⚖️ Using too much or too little force
🔄 Constant movement or rough play
🪑 Difficulty sitting still or staying regulated
💙 Here’s the important part:
This isn’t bad behavior — it’s often your child’s nervous system asking for more input to feel calm and organized.
🧩 How OT helps:
Occupational therapy uses purposeful movement (pushing, pulling, climbing, jumping, heavy work) to help improve body awareness, regulation, and confidence in everyday activities.
If you’re reading this thinking “That sounds like my child,” trust your instincts, support can make a big difference. 💫
