Meet Our Amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Velma!

We are so excited to share that our very own Velma has recently transitioned from one of our loving CNAs to the volunteer Coordinator position here at Gentiva!

Velma has always had a heart full of compassion and a deep love for those we serve. Now, in her new role, she continues to go above and beyond—bringing joy, support, and connection to our patients, families, and volunteers. From sweet treats like snow cones to uplifting community events, she leads with purpose and heart.

We are beyond blessed to have her continue her journey with us in this new capacity!

Gentiva Hospice had the best time today! Ruth, our sweet pet therapy dog, had an absolute blast visiting the residents at Bradford at Brookside and Cleveland Healthcare. Alongside Christina Wood, our executive hospice care consultant. They spent time loving on residents, sharing smiles, and educating them on the myths and facts of hospice care. It’s always a joy to bring comfort, companionship, and conversation to those we serve, and today was no exception. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day!

Nothing’s better than a good snack and knowing the real facts. Knowing the true facts about hospice when needed is truly important instead of always thinking the misconceptions that are repeated. Please reach out to Christina Wood, our EHCC, who is a certified caregiver advocate and holds a wellness counseling certification. She truly loves to be a resource and educate on the different levels of care in healthcare and hospice education.
