Eric D. is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and are fellowship trained in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and macular diseases and vitreoretinal surgery. cted as Best Doctors in America and Top Ophthalmologists in America. Tian (Tina) Xia, M.D. is board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in Retinal and Vitreoretinal surgery. She is a summa cm laude and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the competitive 7-year combined BA/MD program at Rutgers University. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School during which time she published more than 10 peer-reviewed publications and presented at numerous regional, national and international ophthalmic meetings. Dr. Xia recently concluded her two-year Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. At Scheie, she developed an expertise in the diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and ocular inflammatory conditions, as well as, in all aspects of vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Xia has been selected as a Top Doctor by New Jersey Monthly Magazine. Retina-Vitreous Consultants' scope of practice is limited to consultation, laser surgical intervention, and intraocular surgical rehabilitation of vision loss secondary to diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula. These conditions include diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, ocular inflammation (uveitis), macular surface anomalies, such as macular holes and puckers, retinal vascular diseases, and hereditary and juvenile retinal degenerative conditions and dystrophies.

February is age related macular degeneration awareness month! Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness among older Americans. The picture demonstrates missing central vision with macular degeneration.

New treatments for wet macular degeneration and new treatments for geographic atrophy can save people’s vision. Early detection is key!

• A gray curtain covers part of your vision

These can be signs of a serious condition such as retinal tear or retinal detachment. This requires treatment urgently.
