Thank you to Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill for supporting this important event.

Members from Community Health and Outreach along with staff from the Emergency Department were on hand to distribute. Happy Holidays!

Congratulations to our latest Daisy Award Honoree, Lauren Bahno, RN, from our Family Centered Care Unit, recognized by a grateful patient.

“On my last night in the hospital, Lauren was my nurse, and she truly went above and beyond to care for me not just as a patient, but as a human being. Throughout the night, Lauren came into my room every hour to take my blood. It was exhausting, and I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious about what was happening with my health. But every single time she came in, she approached me with such calmness, kindness, and compassion. She didn't just do the task quickly and leave she took the time to check on how I was feeling emotionally and physically.

Lauren is a true patient advocate. She made sure I understood everything that was going on with me. She explained things in clear, thorough detail, always taking the time to answer my questions and ensuring I felt included in decisions about my care. I never felt like just another patient on her list she made sure my concerns were heard and addressed. But what meant the most to me was how she listened. She listened not only to my medical concerns, but to my fears, frustrations, and the emotions I was carrying. She made me feel seen and heard as a whole person, not just someone in a hospital bed. Lauren brought me comfort and reassurance on a night when I needed it most. Her knowledge, compassion, and patient-centered care made an incredible difference in my experience.

I will always remember how safe and supported she made me feel. Lauren Bahno is an extraordinary nurse, and she embodies everything the DAISY Award represents. I am so grateful that she was there for me."
