We are incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to spend last weekend with the volunteers of Lewis and Clark County Search and Rescue going over wilderness first aid techniques for certification.
Wilderness First Aid focuses on providing life saving medical care in remote environments where definitive care may be hours (and sometimes days) away. Unlike traditional first aid, emphasis is placed on patient assessment, improvised care, environmental hazards, safe patient movement techniques, and decision making skills These skills are critical for search and rescue teams operating in challenging terrain and unpredictable conditions.
It was a honor to work alongside of such a dedicated group of volunteers who give the time and energy to keeping our community safe.
Their commitment to training and preparedness makes a real difference when it matters most.
