🌡️ Understanding Your Emotional Temperature 🌡️
Emotions aren’t just feelings—they’re your mind’s way of telling you what matters most. Sometimes, emotions feel like a warm glow; other times, they can boil over like a hot stove.
In DBT, we recognize that:
✨ Emotions are important signals, not enemies.
✨ Your emotional temperature shows how intense your feelings are.
✨ Paying attention to this “temperature” helps you respond with skill, not react with overwhelm.
When your emotions run hot:
· Take a moment to pause and notice what you’re feeling.
· Use skills like TIP (Temperature, Intense exercise, Paced breathing) to cool down safely.
· Remember, feeling deeply means you’re human and connected to what matters.

🧘‍♀️✨ What Is Mindfulness in DBT? ✨🧘‍♂️
(It’s not just about meditation.)
In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness is the foundation for all other skills. It means learning to:
👁️ Notice what’s happening in the moment—inside you and around you
🧠 Name your thoughts, feelings, and urges without judgment
💬 Respond, instead of reacting on autopilot
🌿 In DBT, mindfulness isn’t about "clearing your mind"—it’s about becoming aware of your mind so you can make wise, intentional choices.
DBT teaches two sets of mindfulness skills:
1️⃣ “What” Skills – What you do to be mindful
▪️ Observe
▪️ Describe
▪️ Participate
2️⃣ “How” Skills – How you practice mindfulness
▪️ Non-judgmentally
▪️ One-mindfully
▪️ Effectively
📍 Why it matters: For teens especially, mindfulness helps slow down emotional reactivity, build self-awareness, and increase control over behavior.
🧭 Mindfulness gives us a pause button—and in that pause, there's power.

☀️ Summer Mindfulness: Savor the Season with Intention 🌿.

Summer invites us to slow down, soak in the sunshine, and reconnect—with ourselves and the world around us. Practicing mindfulness during this season can help ease anxiety, boost mood, and increase gratitude for life’s simple pleasures. 🌸

Here are a few ways to stay grounded this summer: ✨ Take a mindful walk—notice the warmth on your skin, the colors of the sky, the sounds of nature. 🍓 Eat seasonally—savor the taste and texture of fresh summer fruit. 🌊 Practice “five senses” grounding at the beach or poolside—what can you see, hear, feel, smell, and taste? 🧘‍♀️ Try breathwork outdoors—inhale the fresh air, exhale tension. This summer, let’s not just go through the motions—let’s be in the moment. 🌼 🌿

From all of us at Mindsoother Therapy Center, wishing you a calm, present, and joyful season.
