Personal health update: it has been 105 days (April 21) since I’ve had any Ménière’s disease symptoms / vertigo attacks! I feel like I got my life back. I credit going through tons of doctor visits and tests to get to this point. . The big helpers for me have been reducing sodium, reducing stress however I can, taking Betahistine 8mg 3x/day, and getting custom ear molds for my hearing aids (only $250 for the pair). Thanks for all the support!

Lily Mountain was one of the HARDEST hikes I have ever done! My niece Sarah suggested this 4 mile out and back hike. Sounded easy enough 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I also noticed that she and her husband planned to bring their young children with them on backpacks. I decided not to even bother bringing my water. 💧

Well… what I did NOT know… is that it was a 2 mile hike UP to the 🔝 of the 🏔️ and then an 2 mile hike down!!! The first hour and a half was fun. 🤩 The 3 or so hours after that… was exhausting. My legs hurt, I was hot, tired, and thirsty. The top of the mountain did not seem in sight. Hikers coming back down said that there were boulders to climb to get to the very top, and that it was still another 20 minute climb.

I wanted to quit about 4 times. It became a mental battle as well as a physical battle at that point, as 5 of us (2 nieces, 1 nephew, and my son in law) made the decision to press onward. I have to say, the risk was worth the reward. The very top was stunning, scary, and breathtaking!! ⛅️

Thank you so much to all who voted for Benson 🐾!! His professional photo shoot will be August 16th, and looks like he will have a 1 in 3 shot of making in the calendar. They will be unveiling the completed calendar and announcing the lucky pets featured in each month at a Reveal Party on Wednesday, November 19th. 🎉

“Congratulations!

We are excited to share that based on our online voting poll (2,306 votes cast!) your pet has made the top 36 to be photographed and possibly earn a spot in our Fur + Furniture Calendar!

As we mentioned on our event website, you must be available on 8/16 or 8/23 to be eligible. See attached your selected 20min photo timeslot. We ask that you arrive 10-15min prior to your scheduled timeslot in case we are running ahead of schedule, and for your pet to get acclimated with our space. We will do our best to accommodate conflicts, but we cannot guarantee you a new timeslot. We also considered which pet would work best with each vendor product.

When:

Saturday, August 16th OR Saturday, August 23rd (see attached for your day and time)

We will have light snacks (for humans and pets!) and refreshments available during the photoshoot. NBS team members as well as participating vendor partners will be here in addition to our photographer. A photo waiver is attached for your review; this will need to be signed prior to your pet being photographed. We will have copies available the day of to sign. Following the release of the calendar, you will receive a digital copy of your pet’s best shot!

During each photoshoot we are hosting a pet supply drive to benefit Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control. We would be grateful for any donated items! An Amazon wish list can be found here, and the item(s) can be brought with you to the photoshoot. See a flyer attached as well.”
