I have a friend who always used to say, “Why does everything bad happen to me?”

Seriously.

It was SO tiresome.

I finally told him that he needed to rearrange the way he was looking at things. First, bad things happen to everyone sometimes. Sorry, but it’s the human experience.

❤️ But second, and most importantly, we do have 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 about what happens by controlling what we think about and becoming aligned with our higher self.

Seriously.

As Gandhi said, and I’m paraphrasing:

Thoughts become words
Words become actions
Actions become habits

Success comes from the steady application of the right habits. So, if you want to succeed, you have to trace that process back to your thoughts.

We can’t control everything that flits across our brains. But we absolutely can decide whether to let negative thoughts disappear – or to hold, nurture and repeat them into self-defeating negativity.

So, instead of deliberately thinking, “I’m overweight and unattractive and can’t ever finish anything,” try to focus on more helpful thoughts like, “I’m a loveable, caring person who’s trying to improve myself every day.”

Which thought will lead to the actions and habits and LIFE that you want?

It shouldn’t take Gandhi to find the answer. You know it in your heart. Now tell your head.

❤️ 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐭!

Believe it or not, the holiday season might be the best time of year to focus on your health and fitness.

I can see you looking at me like I’m crazy, with that “Excuse me?” look on your face.

But let me tell you why.

We’re all so busy in December -- with more social commitments, more time shopping and traveling and stressing – that if we can take care of ourselves during all this busyness, then the rest of the year should be a breeze.

If you don’t allow yourself to make excuses in December, you’ll set yourself up to be on track the rest of the year!

And just think how totally awesome you’ll feel in January. When everyone else is just starting on their healthy-living journey, hungover from weeks of overindulgence and couch time, you’ll already have a whole month of good habits to build on!

It’s NEVER that we’re too busy. It’s just that we don’t make it a priority.

❤️ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

I know what it’s like to want results right away. To want to quickly see the results of the work I’m putting in.

But, just like saving money for a major purchase takes time, so does reaching your health and fitness goals.

Not only is that OK, but it’s such a good thing! It means more when it takes time and effort than if we could just take a pill, right?

Be patient with your progress. Celebrate it along the way, at big milestones and little achievements, even those that don’t seem like much. When you start to feel frustrated by a certain number or fact (like the dang number on the scale), remind yourself of what it was when you started, or how many days in a row you’ve exercised, or how much better you feel compared to before.

Reaching your goals might take longer than you want. But prizing your progress? You can do that every day.
