The second core value of the Play Awhile Approach is “Plan Less, Play More”. At the beginning of my career I would spend hours creating insta-perfect activities for my students. My place of work at the time didn’t have colored printing so I would bring the black and white copies home to fill in with colored pencil. And guess what… no one cared! So I let go of my perfectionism and started leaning in to what maters- creating a welcoming environment with multi-contextual materials, and following kids leads. It truly made all the difference. Both in therapy outcomes and my own work-life balance! So, I challenge you no to plan less, and play more!
