🌡️ Get smart, not sick: Seasonal Flu Essentials

Did you know the flu is a virus that can make anyone seriously sick—even healthy people? It typically strikes in the fall and winter, with cases usually peaking between December and February in the U.S.

What to watch for: fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, and a runny or stuffy nose. Some folks—especially kids—may also experience vomiting or diarrhea.

Best defense:
🥽 Get your annual flu vaccine—vaccines are updated every year to match circulating strains. Plus, it takes about 2 weeks for full protection to kick in.

🧼 Practice smart hygiene—wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, avoid touching your face, and stay home when you're sick.

Stay protected, stay healthy—this flu season, don’t let the virus catch you off guard!

Call us today with questions or to get vaccinated! Call 225-618-5015

🩵 September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in U.S. men and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths.

It often shows no early symptoms—making regular screening with PSA blood tests and digital re**al exams crucial. When caught early, the 5-year survival rate is nearly 98%.

Know your risk factors: older age, family history, and being African American all elevate risk significantly.

Take action this month:
• Talk to your doctor about screening—typically recommended starting around age 50, or 45 if high-risk.
• Share this post to help spread awareness and empower early detection.

Because early awareness and prevention always matter. Call Arbor Family Health for an appointment today: 225-618-5015

🌾 National Celiac Disease Awareness Day

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten (found in wheat, barley & rye). It damages the small intestine and can lead to anemia, osteoporosis, infertility, and more if untreated.

About 1 in 133 Americans live with it—yet many don’t know they have it. Awareness = earlier diagnosis + healthier lives.

World Su***de Prevention Day occurs every September 10th to raise awareness, combat stigma, and highlight that su***des are preventable.

If you or a friend or family member needs to talk to someone, Arbor Family Health is here for you. Get in touch today. Call 225-618-5015. Everything is confidential.
