CALLING ALL PREGNANT MAMAS! Farmington Birth Center is hosting an Ultrasound training event at their center today through Sunday (3/14-3/17). We need volunteers to help the students perfect their U/S skills. It's complelety free to you, and you can bring family members with you who may want to see baby or otherwise don't have the opportunity during regular buisness/work hours. Looking to create an additional birth doula team consisting of 2 doulas who share call, provide pregnancy & birth support.

Must be: Professionally trained, enthusiastic to work with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clientele, non-judgemental in client preferences, and eager to learn.
Ideally: Have taken SpinningBabies & rebozo courses but not required.

Ideal position for those looking to join a team and sharing call. Opportunity for business/doula mentorship for the right candidate. This position is for the remainder of 2020, with an opportunity to continue into 2021.

My husband is the BEST. He took my lunch reminder note to myself (to take to the birth I was anticipating attending) and wrote me a sweet note of encouragement. I didn’t see it until after this amazing mama gave birth in an event that played out (almost) exactly as she planned. Women are amazing. Husbands are amazing. It was a great day. ♥️

These are confirmed. Even Labor & Delivery nurses and OBGYN offices at these hospitals are giving wrong information because it isn't clear! Yes, it is 1 support person, however it is also +1 Professional Doula. Not everyone is aware of the caveat to allow the doula when only 1 support person is allowed in general. NO this does NOT mean your mom or sister or BFF can claim to be your doula! They are checking for training, certifications, and MORE to allow a doula into the room. Please do not ruin it for families who have hired a professional doula by trying to get your cousin in as your "doula". Ever. It hurts the reputation of doulas and the trust hospitals put into *professional* doulas. There IS a difference! (That's a convo for another day)... If someone within your hospital system is saying "no doulas", ask to speak to the charge nurse or the nurse manager to confirm policy! Your doula will be asked to provide proof that they are a professional doula so make sure they are prepared. Your doula may also be swabbed at some locations.

A giant THANK YOU to these hospitals for agreeing that doulas are essential care providers! A Thank You to Representative Andy Levin and Governor Gretchen Whitmer for advocating for birthing families right's to evidence based care providers in the hospital! Professional doulas decrease cesarean & intervention rates, while positively affecting infant outcomes, birth satisfaction and breastfeeding rates.

If your hospital is not listed: write to your local representatives to insist the hospitals in their district uphold the executive order allowing partners AND doulas into the labor and delivery unit!

ALSO ALLOWING DOULAS: St Joseph in Pontiac, Mercy St Mary's Grand Rapids, Huron-Valley, McLaren Bay City, Nine Short Months Birthing Center, Three Rivers Health
