Our newest Transcultural Nursing Society blog, “Reflections on CSW70: A Transcultural Nursing Perspective on Global Advocacy,” written by Lisa Roberts, DrPH, MSN, FNP‑BC, CHES, FAANP, FAAN, shares a powerful firsthand account from her role as part of the TCNS Delegation to the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.
In the post, she describes attending CSW70 as “both a professional honor and a profound personal experience,” reflecting on how the session’s focus on access to justice connects directly to transcultural nursing practice.
She highlights how structural inequalities shape health outcomes and why culturally informed advocacy is essential, noting that “justice and health are inextricably connected.”

Our TCNS Delegates returned for Week 2 of CSW70 on Monday, March 16, continuing their participation in UN and NGO sessions focused on global health, gender equity, and culturally informed policy. This second week offers deeper discussions on the challenges facing women and girls worldwide and highlights the importance of culturally grounded approaches to care, leadership, and advocacy.
We are proud of our delegates’ ongoing commitment to representing transcultural nursing in these global conversations and bringing meaningful insights back to the Transcultural Nursing Society community.
