Our newest Transcultural Nursing Society blog, “Reflections on CSW70: A Transcultural Nursing Perspective on Global Advocacy,” written by Lisa Roberts, DrPH, MSN, FNP‑BC, CHES, FAANP, FAAN, shares a powerful firsthand account from her role as part of the TCNS Delegation to the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations.
In the post, she describes attending CSW70 as “both a professional honor and a profound personal experience,” reflecting on how the session’s focus on access to justice connects directly to transcultural nursing practice.
She highlights how structural inequalities shape health outcomes and why culturally informed advocacy is essential, noting that “justice and health are inextricably connected.”
The reflection also emphasizes that “global advocacy is not separate from nursing, it is an extension of our ethical duty to promote dignity, equity, and holistic wellbeing across all cultures.”
