Manoogian Manor The Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged In 1949 the first "Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged" was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. and Mrs.

This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian women and the entire Armenian community. In 1964, a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. Alex Manoogian. In 1970 t

he doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian's parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor. Since these begining days, Manoogian Manor expanded to house 70 residents, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace comfort and security.

At Manoogian Manor, bingo isnโ€™t just a gameโ€”itโ€™s a tradition. Youโ€™ll often find our residents gathered around the big table, dabbers in hand, ready to win a prize or just enjoy a few laughs with friends.

Itโ€™s more than a chance to shout โ€œBingo!โ€โ€”itโ€™s about staying sharp, socializing, and adding a little excitement to the day. Regular bingo games are a favorite here, and weโ€™re always thrilled to see the joy they bring.

Weโ€™re a little behind in posting thisโ€”but the smiles are still fresh in our minds!

On June 23, we had the pleasure of welcoming the amazing volunteers from VT Seva-Detroit for a summer celebration at Manoogian Manor. While the incredibly hot weather and blazing sunshine shifted our plans from an outdoor bonfire to an indoor gathering, the spirit of the day couldnโ€™t have been brighter!

Volunteers spent time chatting with our residents, learning about their lives, and helping them play some friendly games of co****le and ladderball. They also brought along refreshing drinks to beat the heat and even treated us to live music, thanks to Sanyog Iyengar on the keyboard.

Our residents had so much fun they didnโ€™t want the evening to endโ€”and neither did we! It was a heartwarming night of laughter, connection, and joyful moments that remind us how powerful community can be.

To VT Seva-Detroit: From all of us at Manoogian Manor, both staff and residents alike, we thank you for your kindness, your energy, and your promise to return. Weโ€™re already looking forward to your next visit!
