Manoogian Manor

Manoogian Manor The Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged In 1949 the first "Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged" was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. and Mrs.

This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian women and the entire Armenian community. In 1964, a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. Alex Manoogian. In 1970 the doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian's parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor. Since these begining days, Manoogian Manor expanded to house 70 residents, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace comfort and security.

As the year ends, and the temperature runs cold, kindness keeps us warm. This season, spreading love through small acts that make a big difference—writing cards, knitting scarves, and sharing words of encouragement with others—can make a big difference in the lives of both the recipient and the giver. Giving back fosters purpose, friendship, and joy that last all winter long. Every smile, every thoughtful gesture reminds us that compassion never grows cold.

Christmas magic was in full swing during our special outing to Somerset Mall in Troy 🎄🎅

A few of our residents enjoyed a festive visit with Santa, complete with smiles, laughs, and wonderful holiday moments.

Thanks to some very special connections, this trip became even sweeter — Marcie’s cousin serves as the mall’s Santa photographer, making the experience extra memorable.

And thanks to Karen, our amazing nurse, and her connection with the mall’s marketing team, our residents were also treated to delicious Rocky Mountain Chocolate treats 🍫✨

From meeting Santa to enjoying festive sights and surprises, this outing truly captured the joy of the season.

Moments like these remind us how meaningful community, relationships, and a little holiday magic can be.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make Christmas extra special for our residents.

There’s nothing quite like seeing Christmas lights through the window of the Manor van ✨🎄

Our residents loved heading out for a festive evening drive to “peep” the beautiful holiday lights in the neighborhoods around us.

From sparkling rooftops to glowing trees, every turn brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of holiday conversation.

These outings are about more than the lights — they’re about fresh air, shared moments, and feeling connected to the community around us.

Our specialized Manor van makes it possible for residents to safely enjoy experiences beyond our walls, especially during such a magical season.

It’s moments like these that remind us how special the holidays can be when they’re shared together.

Our residents had an absolute blast enjoying a live Christmas show from one of our favorite musicians, Bobby G Music!

From classic carols to toe-tapping tunes, the room was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of festive cheer.

Music has such a special way of bringing people together, and moments like these create memories our residents cherish.

We’re so grateful to Bobby G for sharing his talent and heart with our community once again.
Events like this are just one of the many ways we make each season meaningful, joyful, and full of connection at Manoogian Manor.

🕷️ Better late than never… because these creepy-cute creations deserve the spotlight!

Just before Halloween, our residents got into the spooky spirit with a fun spider craft—complete with googly eyes and lots of personality! Afterwards, they proudly wore their new eight-legged friends to dinner… whether perched on a shoulder, a hat, or even right on their head!

Here’s a belated shoutout to Jack & the Spider Ladies—you rocked those little critters like pros! 👏

At Manoogian Manor, we’re never short on seasonal fun, creativity, or laughs (even if our posting is a little behind 😉).

🥁 You can’t beat this kind of fun… or maybe you can! 😉

We recently had a blast drumming along with The Livonia Beat—a fun-loving, smile-producing, judge-free cardio drumming group that brought rhythm, movement, and joy to Manoogian Manor!

Cardio drumming isn’t just entertaining—it’s great for muscle movement, memory, and keeping minds sharp. And with this amazing travel group leading the way, our residents were tapping, laughing, and drumming their hearts out.

Thank you to The Livonia Beat for turning up the energy and bringing the boom to our day!

🍜🤖🍔 When lunch plans take a detour… and turn into something even better!

We originally planned a fun outing where our residents could choose between Kura Revolving Sushi Bar (or as we call it, the Robot Restaurant) or Noodles & Company—with Bryce leading the sushi crew and Marcie guiding the pasta lovers. But when we arrived at the plaza, surprise! A Five Guys and a Jersey Mike's caught everyone’s attention—and that’s when the real adventure began.

🌟 Dawn chose a turkey sub, chips, and a pop from Jersey Mike's.
🍔 Larry tried a Five Guys burger and fries for the very first time (and is now a fan).
🍝 Mary stayed loyal to Noodle & Company with a creamy Alfredo pasta and garden salad—and later raved to her friends back at Manoogian about how much fun it was to have a choice.
🍣 Only Bryce grabbed some carry out sushi from Kura while grabbing a video and photo of the robot in action.

The best part? We all ended up eating together, laughing, and enjoying the spontaneity of the moment. Even Dawn, who wasn't feeling her best earlier, shared how getting out made all the difference: “I felt so much better once we got there and really enjoyed the day.”

Sometimes it's the small, simple outings that lift spirits and create the memories that carry us through the week.

🎳 Who needs a bowling alley when you’ve got beanbags and plastic cups?

Our residents had a blast playing plastic cup tower bowling—stacking cups in a triangle and taking turns knocking them down with beanbags! The competition was fierce (in the friendliest way), the laughter was nonstop, and yes—there were prizes for the top knockdowns!

This simple, silly game brought out big smiles, great memories, and even a little strategy. We love creating these joyful moments where everyone can cheer each other on.
