*Cross Heart Kriya*
Many years ago, when I first began teaching, I read voraciously, yoga magazines, articles and books to learn more about things that touched me.
One was an article by Gurmukh Khalsa, and it was called Cross- Heart Kirtan Kriya. I hadn’t yet participated in a Kundalini class but I loved the simplicity of this chant. The syllables were easy to follow, the meaning behind them and the tactile action with my hands. It came together easily and although, I’m still not overly comfortable leading a chant…voice lessons are on my bucket list 😉🎶. This Kriya is one of my favorites.
From a sitting position, cross the forearms in front of your chest. The mantra
Saa- Birth/Infinity,
Taa- Life,
Naa- Transformation/ Death, Maa- Rebirth.
To begin
Saa- Touch the tip of your index fingers and thumbs
Taa- tip of middle fingers and your thumbs
Naa- tip of the ring fingers and your thumbs
Maa- tip of the pinky fingers and your thumbs.
Repeat 7 times, at the end inhale, hold and find stillness
When you are complete, exhale, release your hands in your lap, relax and check in to see how you feel. Namaste 💜🙏💚
