Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) is an online 60 credit degree program that is designed to be consistent with the requirements for licensure as a professional counselor in Pennsylvania (049 PA Code ยง 49.13). Upon graduation from the program, you will be license eligible and ready to fulfill the remainder of the Pennsylvania state requirements for licensure as a counselor. The program is consistent with other state licensure codes and a non-Pennsylvania student may be license eligible in another state as a counselor. Graduates of the program will demonstrate advanced knowledge and appropriate skills in the following areas:
Foundations of Counseling
Intervention and Prevention
Diversity and Advocacy
Human Development
Assessment
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Research and Evaluation

The following concentrations are available in the CMHC Program:
Children and Adolescent Counseling
Counseling Veterans and their Families
General Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Lock Haven University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), 3624 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19104-2680, 215-662-5606. In addition, while not currently accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the program utilizes the CACREP Standards as student learning outcomes.
