Schroer Medical is excited to announce the addition of Shelby Gillasby-Ortiz, APRN, Family Nurse Practitioner, to our team beginning June 2026.

Shelby is originally from Wickes, Arkansas, and currently resides in Mineral Springs, Arkansas. She attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology. She later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Hope in 2016. Shelby continued her education and earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Family Practice from UAMS in 2025.

Shelby brings eight years of diverse nursing experience, including hospital-based care in Med/Surg and ICU/ER settings, as well as experience in hospice, school nursing, and hormone replacement therapy.

Shelby and her husband, Kolten, have four daughters—Hallie, Lyndyn, Kora, and Brynlee—who attend Nashville Schools. Outside of work, Shelby enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, attending concerts, and singing in church.

We are excited for our patients to meet Shelby and look forward to expanding our walk-in and same-day appointment availability to better serve our community.

Heather and Cassie are eager to welcome Shelby and assist in her transition as she becomes part of the Schroer Medical family.

💗WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH BREASTCARE! 💗

🩺 What Is the BreastCare Program?
The BreastCare Program is a public health initiative run by the Arkansas Department of Health designed to help women access breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services at NO cost or LOW cost.

👩‍⚕️ Who Is Eligible?
Just call 870.289.5190 or come in to discuss if you meet the criteria!

Individuals must:
-Live in Arkansas.
-Be within the target age ranges:
40–64 years old for routine breast cancer screening (mammograms),
-Under 40 years old if experiencing breast symptoms that need evaluation
-Have a household income at or below the federal poverty level.
-Be uninsured or underinsured (including Medicare or Medicaid recipients without full coverage) — though women with insurance who meet criteria for financial barriers may also qualify.
-The focus is on helping women who might otherwise be unable to afford preventive care.

📋 What Services Are Provided?
If you are eligible and enroll, the BreastCare Program covers:
Screening Services
Clinical breast exams — DONE IN OUR CLINIC
Pelvic exams and Pap tests —DONE IN OUR CLINIC
Mammograms

Diagnostic Services
If a screening test shows an abnormal result, the program also provides follow-up diagnostic testing (like additional imaging or biopsies).

2. Enroll!– WE MAKE THIS EASY. WE DO IT ALL! Once enrolled, women receive a BreastCare ID. Takes less than 30 minutes.

3. Schedule Appointments – WE MAKE THIS EASY TOO. We schedule clinical breast exam, pap exams, and mammogram appointments as needed, and handle follow-up if any results require further testing.
