I'm a Central Texas native of several generations, a graduate of The University of Texas, musician and business person. I grew up in Austin in a family of musicians and artists, and went rogue 25 years ago to pursue a career in business.
Presently I serve as Senior Vice President of Independence Title, a company I helped found 13 years ago that now has operations all over Texas. I'm part of an industry that has taught me a lot about smart growth and the long-term impact - both positive and negative - of planning decisions made by city governments.
In 2002 I moved to Lockhart just before my daughter Lucy was born, in search of the small-town feeling I enjoyed growing up in South Austin. Lockhart has become home, haven and village for me and my family, and I'm grateful every day for the community that has embraced us. I'm ready to put my knowledge and experience to work for Lockhart, and I believe I share the priorities of my District 3 neighbors and other "Lockhartians." Here's what I think quality-of-life and positive growth look like in our town:
Renewal and reinvestment in public spaces
Walkability and sidewalks
More local jobs
Affordability
Improving the safety and efficiency of roads
Historic preservation
Continued investment in local schools
Commitment to sustainable building standards
City leaders have a responsibility to look to the future while honoring the past. We must make connections with potential employers in clean industries (data, healthcare, higher education, arts and media technology). We can create opportunities for everyone, while protecting the character and authenticity of this very special place.
