💜The Purple Line appears in about 76% of active laboring women & can be used to estimate progression of labor and station of baby. It usually becomes visible at about 3-4 cms.
💜I recently attended a birth wherein this line was quite noticeable - Now, as a doula, I see this line all the time. But the interesting thing was the shock of the provider when a nurse and myself noted how prominent it was, and explained what it was to them. They were so interested they even grabbed a second OB on the floor to come look at it! They had never seen it before, in all their years of practice.
💜Why? Because they rarely attend births in which a patient is in any position but flat on their back. They simply don't see people laboring & pushing on hands and knees or squatting as much as we do. It was a sad thing to realize but a delight to share with them. Maybe next time they'll encourage a flip to check out that line ? 💜🤰🏻🤷🏻‍♀️
