The Teal Yogi

The Teal Yogi We’re here to guide you every step of the way. Why Teal? Teal combines the life-giving energy of green with the calming energy of blue.

Welcome to The Teal Yogi – where healing meets empowerment. 🌿✨
We specialize in trauma-sensitive yoga and meditation, offering a safe, supportive space to reconnect with your mind, body, and soul. Much like yoga, it embodies a balance between rejuvenation and serenity. Yoga offers us strength when we feel weak, community when we feel isolated, and a voice when we feel silenced. It heals the body when we are injured and supports the mind when we are struggling. Yoga is a journey to rediscover our true selves and feel whole again. At The Teal Yogi, we know how powerful that journey can be. We’re committed to providing a space where you can reconnect with your body and mind through thoughtful, trauma-sensitive practices. With anatomy-based, conscious movement techniques and meditative exercises, our classes are designed to support healing from physical and emotional trauma. Our mission is to empower each individual on their path to healing and self-discovery. Whether you're joining us for a group class, workshop, or private session, you’ll find a welcoming, safe space where healing meets empowerment.

Some things we carry aren’t visible.

The stress.
The overwhelm.
The constant holding it all together for everyone else.

You don’t need to arrive feeling calm, flexible, or put together.
You just need a space where you can exhale… where your nervous system can finally soften… where healing happens at your own pace.

At The Teal Yogi, we create yoga experiences designed to support real life — not perfection.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to begin, this is it.

New students can try 2 Weeks Unlimited for just $29.

Not all yoga is regulating.

For someone with a sensitive or dysregulated nervous system, fast pacing, hands-on assists, or intense breathwork can feel activating instead of calming.

Many people quietly assume:
“I guess yoga just isn’t for me.”

But often — it’s not yoga itself.
It’s how it’s taught.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is different.

We slow down.
We offer choice.
We normalize opting out.
We build safety before intensity.

Because healing doesn’t begin with pushing.
It begins with feeling safe.

If you’ve ever wondered why traditional classes didn’t feel right — there’s nothing wrong with you.

There’s just another way.

Some days it feels impossible to pretend everything is normal.

You open your phone and see violence, loss, corruption, people disappearing, suffering broadcast in real time — and then somehow you’re expected to answer emails, make dinner, show up to work, smile, and carry on like your nervous system didn’t just absorb all of it.

If you’ve been feeling heavier lately…
more tired…
more anxious…
more emotionally worn down than usual…

You’re not broken.

Your body is responding exactly the way a human body responds to witnessing a world that feels unsafe and overwhelming.

Right now, “thriving” might not feel accessible.
Even “normal” might feel out of reach.

Maybe you’re just trying to get through the day.

And honestly?
That counts.

Survival is still effort.
Rest is still healing.
Small moments of grounding still matter.

That’s why we created our 21-Day Mindfulness Challenge, beginning March 2nd.

✨ Just a few minutes a day
✨ Gentle, trauma-sensitive practices
✨ Delivered directly to your inbox
✨ Support without pressure or perfection

No catching up.
No doing it perfectly.
Just small daily moments to help your nervous system remember: *you are safe enough right now.*

If the world feels loud, heavy, or overwhelming — let us hold a little space for you.

💙 Join the challenge and give yourself the support you deserve.

For the last two years, my health has been changing in ways I can no longer ignore.

What was once manageable has become something heavier. And after a lot of reflection (and a lot of pushing through), I’ve made the decision to step off the weekly teaching schedule starting March 1st.

This isn’t a goodbye.
It’s a boundary.
It’s me practicing what I teach — listening to my body.

I’ll still be here. Behind the scenes. In teacher training. At special events.
And this community is in incredibly capable hands with our team of instructors.

I share more openly in today’s blog post — about what’s been happening and what this transition means moving forward.

If you’ve ever needed permission to choose your health… this is it.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is often misunderstood —
and when it’s misunderstood, people either assume it’s “not for them” or worry they’ll be pushed to face things they’re not ready for.

So let’s be clear.
This isn’t about moving slower just for the sake of it.
It’s not only for people with a specific story or diagnosis.
It’s not about releasing emotions, forcing breath, or following one “right” way to practice.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is about creating the conditions where the body can feel safe enough to begin rebuilding trust — without pressure, expectation, or performance.

If you’ve been practicing here and thought,
“This feels different,”
this is why.

And if you’ve been curious but hesitant to try yoga again,
this approach might be exactly what your nervous system needs.

… and still feel like you’re supposed to keep it all together.

That’s been the energy lately.

From the outside, things might look fine.
But inside?
It’s felt like quietly unraveling while life keeps asking for more.

Some days I feel just like that pile of yoga blocks—
doing my best to stay upright,
until suddenly… gravity wins.

And here’s what I keep reminding myself (and our community):
Falling apart isn’t failure.
It’s information.

It’s your nervous system saying,
I’ve been holding too much for too long.

At The Teal Yogi, we make space for that moment.
For the pause.
For the exhale.
For the version of you that doesn’t want to push through anymore.

This isn’t about forcing calm.
It’s about creating safety.
It’s about letting your body feel supported enough to soften.

If you’re feeling scattered, heavy, or stretched thin, this is your invitation to come lay it down.

You don’t have to hold it all alone.
Let’s take the next breath together.

If you’ve been coming to class and thought,
“This feels different… but I can’t quite explain why,”
you’re not imagining it.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is taught with the understanding that the body has its own timeline.
We’re not here to make you face your trauma.
We’re not here to dig anything up or push you past your limits.

We’re here to:
• move in ways that feel manageable
• create predictability and choice
• help the nervous system settle
• and slowly rebuild a sense of safety and agency in the body

That’s why it can feel calmer.
Or steadier.
Or simply more doable.

If you’ve been curious but hesitant to try yoga — or if you’ve been practicing here and finally feel like you can breathe — this approach might be why.

✨ Experience it for yourself.

Some days your brain just shuts down.

The to-do list, the deadlines, the million little things — all of it swirls in, and then… nothing. Blank. Heavy. Overwhelming.

Yoga doesn’t fix your calendar or your stress.
But it gives you a chance to reset your nervous system, quiet the mental fog, and breathe.

Even 30–60 minutes can help your brain and body reconnect.

Show up for yourself.
