While all Medicare plans cover nutrition counseling for diabetes and chronic kidney disease, Independent Health Encompass 65 covers 4 visits per year for all members regardless of diagnosis. Since it's a preventive visit, it’s a $0 copay!

At AMS Nutrition Counseling, we can help and support you with weight loss if you want to do it with or without a weight loss medication. No matter how you are losing weight, it is important to have realistic expectations, and the results of a recent trial can help with this.

In 751 people without diabetes, Zepbound (tirzepatide) was compared to Wegovy (semaglutide) in a head-to-head trial. The trial was 72 weeks long, and showed that people lost more on Zepbound than they did Wegovy. While we have already known that Zepbound has shown more weight loss compared to Wegovy, this trial was the first to compare these medications directly.

These trial participants took the highest dose of the medication they tolerated, either 10mg or 15 mg Zepbound and 1.7 or 2.4 mg Wegovy. It should be noted it was funded by Lilly, the makers of Zepbound.
