Most patients starting a GLP-1 medication are nervous about diarrhea, but we actually see a lot more constipation with these meds. GLP-1 meds slow down the GI tract, so this makes sense.
Increasing fluid, fiber and physical activity are the tried and true recommendations for constipation, but a dietitian assessment is optimal as we sometimes see other things going on. Some people are getting too much protein, not enough carbs, and even sometimes too MUCH fiber all of which can sometimes make constipation worse.
