Measles Update April 2025 Summary
Measles cases are nearing closer and here are important key points to remember!
Measles is a highly contagious virus, around 90% of people exposed will become infected if they are not vaccinated.
The best way to protect against measles is to make sure you are up-to-date on immunization with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) Vaccine
There are currently 20 states with cases reported of Measles
If you are going to an affected region, you should plan to be fully vaccinated against measles at least 2 weeks before you depart.
If you are less than two weeks away and not immunized, you should get a dose of MMR
1 dose provides 93% protection against measles
2 doses of MMR vaccine provides 97% protection against measles
If you’re unsure of your vaccination status, consult with your healthcare provider for vaccine status to determine if MMR Vaccination is needed. Generally speaking, serologic titers (blood test) are not recommended.
