Today's case was a tooth replacement on the upper left at site #13. We extracted this tooth 8 weeks ago and planned for replacing it today using Fully Guided Implant Surgery. Using technologies, we scanned our patient using both Cone Beam and CADCAM technologies. With the data created by both scans we were able to have a Guide fabricated. That Guide would direct our drills during surgery to place the Nobel Biocare North America Nobel Active implant precisely where we treatment planned it. The surgery today took longer to set up for than it did to complete. After the the implant was placed, a digital impression was made using our CEREC by Sirona OmniCam. The patient was dismissed with very little discomfort expected. The Hybrid Abutment Crown emax by Ivoclar Vivadent was the designed and milled in office and will soon be ready for insertion after a proper healing period. These Sirona 3D technologies allow for the utmost precision and control of a very important process that most patient don't wish to go through twice. Having a tooth replaced with an implant and crown is made simple when everything is done in one office and in as few as 3 visits from Treatment Plan to Insertion of the Crown. What a great case this morning. This patient had a failed bridge and did not want it replaced with another one. 2 implants were planned using our Sirona technologies. A 3D radiographic scan and a digital Cerec scan were used to treatment plan, design, and fabricate a surgical Guide from Sicat called an OptiGuide. This OptiGuide positions and controls both angulation and depth of the drills during the implant surgery limiting the risk that most free hand surgery presents. We are able to make a surgery extremely precise and predictable and thus the final restoration that the patient receives is that much more esthetic. Today's surgery went as planned and our Cerec milled 4-unit provisional was placed over top for for and function during the healing phase. I just completed a comprehensive 3-day course Zimmer Dental. The course was run extremely well. Both the staff and the presenters was very much educated on their material. The facility is beyond impressive, like something out of CSI MIAMI. I am looking forward to going back for an Advanced class.
