Most moms start Monday already holding everything.

The schedules.
The mental lists.
The school forms.
The meals.
The work.
The emotional weight of everyone in the family.

And before the week even begins, the body responds.

Tight shoulders.
Clenched jaw.
That subtle tension sitting in the chest.

But your body isn’t asking you to do more.

Sometimes it’s simply asking for one moment of support.

One breath.
One pause.

Today a woman walked into her session carrying tension in her shoulders, anxiety in her breath, and pain throughout her body.

Like many women and mothers, she had been pushing through for a long time.

We slowed things down.

Breath.
Gentle movement.
Nervous system support.

By the end of the session, her shoulders softened, her breathing deepened, and her body felt lighter.

She walked out feeling clearer, calmer, and more balanced — both physically and mentally.

This is the shift that happens when the body finally feels safe enough to let go.

Even when mothers sit down,
their bodies rarely stop working.

Your ears are listening.
Your nervous system is scanning.
Part of you is always ready to respond.

“Mom.”

A cry.
A question.

Over time, the body learns to stay slightly braced.
Shoulders lifted.
Jaw tight.
Breath a little shallow.

Not because anything is wrong with you —
but because your body adapted to responsibility.

Getting away is always a great nervous system reset, however, I always say… “you always take yourself with you wherever you go.” 🤣🙏🏻

Yes, a beach, some sun and a pool can be a great escape, but our thoughts, feelings emotions, come with us as well.! 😊

We’ve been home a lot.

Presidents week.

Snow days…

Beautiful. Fun. Full.

And also… a lot.

Motherhood doesn’t clock out.

Your nervous system doesn’t either.

If your body feels tight and can’t take a full deep breath after being “on” for days — that makes sense.

Your nervous system has just been constantly overworking.

When we never fully exhale, the body holds it.

You can’t rush it.

Motherhood already lives in a low-level state of alert:
listening, anticipating, managing.

Add this kind of cold into the body and it does what it knows best —
it grips.

Not because you’re tense by choice,
but because your system is trying to keep you safe and functional.

If pain or tightness feel louder this week,
it’s not a setback.

It’s feedback.

This is when softer inputs matter most:
warmth, slower breath, gentler movement, consistent care.

As moms, we’re so practiced at putting ourselves last.

Tending to everyone else. Holding everything together.

But when we never tend to ourselves, it isn’t selfless — it’s depleting.

Our children don’t need us exhausted.

They need us regulated, present, and supported.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

And choosing care for yourself isn’t taking away from your family —

it’s one of the greatest gifts you give them 🤍

Rest is not a reward.

It’s part of the work 🙏🏻💕
