Below is a link to an article from the CDC stating that around 10% of kids 5-17 have been diagnosed at some point in time with ADHD or ADD. It’s still a more prevalent diagnosis among boys, among those closer to the poverty line (maybe because apples don’t make pears and ADHD can have a severe impact on income), and among white kids.
If we assume that parents are doing the research and not just pushing pills down their kids’ throats, my office should be packed to the rafters with kids. Neurofeedback is a first line treatment for ADHD according to the AAP (American Academy of Pediatricians). Not only does it work but it’s non invasive and safe. The results can continue to improve after treatment is completed according to the instructions of the provider.
