Your nervous system is choosing what’s familiar.

If connection once felt inconsistent, unpredictable, or something you had to earn…
your body learned to recognize that as “normal.”

So later, you might feel drawn to:

inconsistency and tension
emotional distance
intensity over stability
constant performance
Roller coaster feelings

Not because you want it—
but because your nervous system knows it.

And when something is actually healthy— calm, steady, consistent
It can feel really uncomfortable.

They think:

When really:

Emotional safety isn’t built by talking yourself out of survival mode.
It’s built by giving your nervous system new experiences of safety.

For many people, the nervous system has spent years learning that emotions, conflict, vulnerability, or even rest can be unsafe.

So even when life becomes calmer, the body may still react as if something is wrong.

Your nervous system can relearn emotional safety with experiences such as:

• responding instead of reacting - creating safe space for emotions
• speaking your needs instead of abandoning them
• allowing support instead of doing everything alone
• meeting yourself with compassion instead of criticism

Over time, these small experiences begin to teach the body something new:

Not every situation is dangerous.
Connection can survive honesty.
My needs matter.
I can handle difficult emotions.

Emotional safety is built in these repeated moments.

Not perfectly — but consistently.

It’s been 4 years in private practice! What a blessing this change has been. 👏🏼

I can still recall the anxiety of becoming self-employed this time 4 years ago. I took a leap of faith, and I could not have imagined what would transpire.

I am so grateful to now work with the clientele I am most passionate about; adults with high functioning anxiety and those overcoming the impacts of trauma.

Every day, I get to see strength and growth in my clients. For me- it’s that moment my clients (nonverbally) say, “I am ready to fight for myself.” 💪🏼 That is why I love what I do.
