BGCLBG is so much more than a place for kids… it’s a lifeline for entire families. It’s where young people find safety, support, and opportunity, and where parents find peace of mind knowing their children are seen, valued, and cared for.

The impact of BGCLBC doesn’t stop at the doors; it reaches into homes, strengthening families and building a community rooted in hope, stability, and connection.

STEM is a pathway to the future! As part of our core programming, BGCLBC members are exposed to 21st Century STEM education that sparks curiosity and imagination, and helps build critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence for success in school and beyond.

Pictured, members of our Hackensack Clubhouse participated in several fun STEM activities in honor of Earth Day, on April 22nd. Members learned about oil spills, their impact on marine life, and different ways to clean up the ocean. They also worked together to create a fizzing earth. The Fizzing Earth activity is a simple, hands-on science experiment where kids use baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring to create a bubbly, reactive map of the Earth. It demonstrates a chemical reaction between acid (vinegar) and base (baking soda) that produces carbon dioxide gas.

Also pictured, LEAP program students practice their skills working with 3D pens!

Cooking is one of the life-skills members in our WAZE program enjoy learning most! Members have learned to make dishes like fettuccini alfredo, vegetable fried rice, and much more.

Studies show that teenagers who know how to cook generally eat healthier, exhibiting better nutritional habits than those that don't. Specifically, research indicates that teens with cooking skills consume more fruits and vegetables, eat fewer fast-food meals, and have better overall diet quality. Since many of the youth we serve experience food insecurity outside of our programs, nutrition education and direct food access are a core part of our Healthy Lifestyles programming and contribute to our Health & Wellbeing Priority Outcome Area.
