Members of the SMART Girls Club Mentoring Program at Leap participated in Bookmark Buddies, a service initiative in partnership with Lodi Memorial Library. The girls created bookmarks featuring messages of encouragement, which will be donated to the children’s section to help brighten a young reader’s day and inspire a love of reading. Great job girls!

Today, the SMART Girls Club mentoring program hosted its Polished & Poised: Etiquette Tea, a special session focused on teaching foundational etiquette skills that every young girl should know.

The girls arrived dressed for the occasion and were welcomed with a curtsy before joining their SMART Sisterhood peers for tea. During the lesson, they learned about the importance of first impressions, table manners, the art of conversation, navigating awkward moments, and expressing gratitude.

LEAP PROGRAM - Today, we launched SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood programming by holding opening ceremonies:

SMART Girls: Bloom Into You Ceremony - The girls created flower crowns and shared a sisterhood pledge before presenting their flowers to each other:

“I will support you, listen to you, and lift you up.
I will stand beside you and cheer for your growth. We are SMART Girls—and we rise together.”

Passport to Manhood: The Brotherhood Walk - The boys demonstrated responsibility and brotherhood by creating personal responsibility code books and a brotherhood poster. They then walked down the “manhood pathway” to receive a stamp marking their official start and recited their pledge:

“I pledge to honor the responsibility that comes with becoming a man. I will be true to my word, treat others with respect, and do what is right—even when no one is watching. I promise to support my brothers on this journey and grow into the man I am becoming.”

Open the door for Kids like Faith! https://bgclbergen.org/?form=donate

Across the country, programs that support children are being slashed — from health care to education to food access. But kids’ potential? That hasn’t changed. It’s clearer than ever: America needs Club Kids!

Kids like Faith, who walked into the Boys & Girls Club of Lodi 9 years ago as a shy first grader, nervous and unsure of what to expect, who has now grown into a confident, compassionate, and driven 10th grade student, and our Club's Youth of the Year, who maintains an impressive 4.1 GPA, while also balancing multiple sports, student leadership roles, and service to her town.

Now more than ever, America needs Club Kids, and Club Kids need you! Today, on Boys & Girls Club Giving Day, will you make a donation to ensure more kids in our community have access to the tools and resources they need to meet their full potential? https://bgclbergen.org/?form=donate

Behind our blue doors, the children and teens in our community are provided life-changing opportunities to help them learn and grow.

In New Jersey, 1 in 7 children face hunger. Across our 10 locations, 64% of members struggle with food insecurity and qualify for free or reduced-price lunch programs. In 2024, we provided 102,000 free healthy snacks and meals to members because no child should ever go hungry!

Help us continue to feed hungry kids healthy food at our Clubs! Donate today for Boys & Girls Club's National Giving Day. https://bgclbergen.org/?form=donate
