Avoidance gives temporary relief, but long-term stress. What if you stopped running and started healing?

We avoid tough conversations, emotions, responsibilities, even success… because facing them feels uncomfortable or overwhelming. But here’s the truth: what we avoid doesn’t disappear — it quietly grows in the background.

Therapy helps you turn toward what you’ve been avoiding — with curiosity, not judgment.
You don’t have to do it all at once. Just start where you are.

We live in a world that praises hustle, output, and constant doing — so it’s no surprise many of us feel guilty when we slow down. But here’s the truth:

- Your value is not measured by your to-do list.
- Rest doesn’t make you lazy.
- You are worthy, even when you’re not being “useful.”

If you only feel good about yourself when you're being productive, it might be time to explore where that belief came from — and how it's serving you now.

Therapy is a space where we unlearn those patterns and rebuild self-worth from the inside out. No achievements required.

If you or someone you know would like to start therapy, our therapists have openings!

The world might be feeling heavy for you right now — full of hurt, pain, and emotions that feel too big to hold. It’s normal to feel sadness, anger, grief, or fear.

Take time to breathe, slow down, and gently process what you’re feeling. Your emotions are valid, and they deserve space to be felt.

And if it feels like too much to carry alone, we’re here to walk with you through it. 💬 You don’t have to do this by yourself.

We're here for you if you need someone.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day

Let’s take a moment to remind ourselves that every life matters—and we all have a role to play in supporting one another.
▪️Check in with friends and loved ones—sometimes just asking “How are you really doing?” can make a difference.
▪️ Notice the signs—withdrawal, drastic changes in mood, or talking about hopelessness aren’t always obvious, but they matter.
▪️ Be there—you don’t need to have the perfect words. Your presence and compassion are powerful.
▪️ Share resources—help is out there, and no one has to face it alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, there is help. There is hope. There is healing.

Meet our new Therapist!

Courtney is our newest therapist here at THRIVE. Courtney works with teens, adults, and LGBTQIA+ individuals and families. Courtney enjoys helping people find empowerment through learning to trust their inner strength and voice when facing oppressive situations or difficult relationships in their lives. Particular issues she has experience in is helping people with chronic illness, coping with disabilities, women’s issues, disordered eating, trauma, abuse, assault, infidelity, parenting, etc. She also really enjoys helping people face difficult life transitions, which could be in relationships, stages of life, faith and spirituality, coping with disease, death, etc. If you think Courtney would be a good fit for you, get scheduled today!

Below are some questions to help get to know Courtney a bit better
1. What inspired me to become a therapist: Helping my teenagers and their friends through difficult times. Learning to support clients, friends, and family through the complications of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Facing personal challenges have helped me develop a lifelong curiosity about human behavior and our power to overcome adversity.

2. Favorite Mantra: No Mud, No Lotus -Thich Nhat Hhan

3. Favorite way to spend my day off: Being outside; hiking, mountain biking, gardening, woodworking, restoration projects, and experimenting with new outdoor cooking recipes.

4. Favorite Book: “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfus, or Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

5. Favorite food would be fresh pastries or cookies, but as someone with Ulcerative Colitis I usually have to settle for alternatives. Life isn't fair, but sometimes I can eat the cookie and the consequences are still worth it!

6. If I could travel anywhere in the world it would be Ireland in the summer and Greece in the winter.

Courtney is accepting new clients!! If you or someone you know would like to schedule with Courtney, call or email today!

Back-to-school season can feel overwhelming for kids—new routines, social pressures, and academic demands can all trigger stress.
Research shows that therapy helps children build healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop resilience in the face of challenges. By learning strategies like mindfulness, problem-solving, and emotional awareness, kids can feel more confident and calm as they navigate the school year.
💛 Therapy gives them the tools not just to get through the day—but to thrive.

Therapy can be one of the few places where you’re encouraged to take up space—fully, unapologetically, and without fear of being “too much.” It’s a space where every part of you is welcome: the messy, the unsure, the hurting, and the hopeful. Here, you don’t have to shrink or perform. You get to just be.

As you explore who you are and what you want for your life, clarity begins to unfold—not because someone hands you the answers, but because you’ve made room for your own voice to be heard. One sentence to try this week: I am allowed to take up space. Repeat it, believe it, and notice how life feels when you stop making yourself smaller.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, because you were never broken. It’s about holding up a clear, compassionate mirror so you can see yourself without the fog of judgment, shame, or old stories you’ve been told. In that safe space, you get to notice your patterns, your strengths, and the parts of you that have been quietly waiting to be heard.

It’s a space where you can untangle the noise, explore who you are, and imagine who you want to become. With the right support, therapy becomes less about changing yourself to “measure up” and more about stepping into the truest version of you—one choice, one insight, one brave conversation at a time.
