Becoming a butterfly...
"You cannot become what you need to be by remaining what you are." - Zig Ziglar

I have always loved butterflies, but it wasn't until I learned how they develop that I came to really appreciate them, and their unique symbol of change.

I knew that caterpillars turned into butterflies, but the process involves them disintegrating into a disgusting blob of goo - letting go of everything that made them a caterpillar - which then forms legs, wings and all that is necessary to become a beautiful adult butterfly.

There is a lesson there for us: we can't keep those parts of ourselves that are holding us back if we want to become something new, something greater. When we feel we are lost, broken, or irreparable, that is just the building block needed for full transformation.

We must surrender. We must allow. Surrendering is far more brave than holding on to who we think we are, just because it is familiar.

May we all take the opportunity this year to let go of those things that don't serve us, let go of the illusion of control over those things we can't control, and let ourselves be made into something new and beautiful.

Small acts of kindness...I loved this thought from John Perricone:

"Several years ago I invited a Buddhist monk to speak to my Senior elective class, and quite interestingly, as he entered the room, he didn't say a word (that caught everyone's attention). He just walked over to the board and wrote this: 'EVERYONE WANTS TO SAVE THE WORLD, BUT NO ONE WANTS TO HELP MOM DO THE DISHES'. We all laughed. But then he went on to say this to my students:

'Statistically, it's highly unlikely that any of you will ever have the opportunity to run into a burning orphanage and rescue an infant. But, in the smallest gesture of kindness -- a warm smile, holding the door for the person behind you, shoveling the driveway of the elderly person next door -- you have committed an act of immeasurable profundity, because to each of us, our life is our universe.'

This is my hope for you for the New Year -- that by your smallest acts of kindness, you will save another's world."

CREATE YOUR MAGIC!
Hello friends-

Our financial team recently returned from an intensive three-day training event, and we are excited to share with YOU what we learned and experienced.

The theme throughout the training was - create your own magic - not just by chance, but with knowledge and intention. The focus of the event was impactful and taught us how to better serve families by helping them plan ahead with clarity and confidence. We found that “magic” is created through education, preparation, protection, and thoughtful decisions made well before they’re needed.

Financial wellness starts with education and is built by understanding your goals and dreams, protecting what matters most, and by putting strategies in place that can support you and your loved ones through life’s changes.

If you have been wondering whether you are prepared for the unexpected, if your family is properly protected, or if your plans align with your future goals, we would love to help. Whether you’re reviewing your existing retirement plans or just beginning to explore your options, we’re happy to provide education and share solutions with you.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your financial wellness journey. We look forward to helping you create your own kind of financial magic.

What's in your cup?
I recently read this analogy and loved it. I hope you enjoy it, too.

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Well because someone bumped into me, of course!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

*Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.*

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

You choose.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

Four Nutrients Your Body Needs When Eating Too Much Sugar

It is Christmas time, which for me means more sugar than normal. I came across this information from Autumn Smith that I would like to share with you. These are 4 nutrients that your body needs when you are eating more sugar. Excess sugar will deplete your body of key nutrients it needs for energy, immune support and resilience.

1- B Vitamins

B vitamins play a part in converting sugar into energy. So if you eat more sugar you need more B vitamins to convert that sugar into energy.

2- Electrolytes

Too much sugar will disrupt your body's electrolyte balance which causes you to lose essential minerals like magnesium, potassium and calcium. These minerals are vital for immune support, energy, and cellular health.

3- Omega-3s

Too much sugar reduces the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acids, which support your brain function, mood and manage inflammation.

4- Vitamin C

Insulin is responsible for transporting both sugar and vitamin C into your cells. When both are present they compete for the same spot. Unfortunately, sugar usually wins. Vitamin C being a water soluble vitamin is then excreted before it is even used. Vitamin C plays a big role in immune function, tissue healing and repair, collagen formation and more. The type of vitamin C you choose to use is a different email.

Enjoy your holidays, and boost these essential nutrients.

Rest isn't a luxury - it's a power move...
The other day I was asking myself what one thing I could do that would have the biggest impact on my day to day life through the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season. I decided that if I could get decent sleep at night, it would be a game changer. I worked 19 years of 8 and12 hour graveyard shifts. Sleep does not come easy to me and has been a struggle. When everyone else is winding down, my body has been programmed to turn on and get going.

Did you know that quality sleep is one of the best things you can do for your energy, mood, and overall health?

Here are 4 simple tips to help you recharge:

*Stick to a sleep schedule - Go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday ( yes even on weekends). Your body love, love, loves routine!

*Cut caffeine after 12PM - That afternoon coffee or energy drink may be tempting, but it can mess with your sleep. Try some calming herbal tea instead.

*Wind down, tech-free - Turn off the screens an hour before bed. A warm bath or shower, a book, or even a short meditation works wonders.

*Make your room sleep ready - Cool, dark, and quiet is the goal. Try blackout curtains or a white noise machine if needed.

Rest isn’t a luxury - it is a power move. Prioritize sleep now, and you will feel the difference all season long.

Here’s to a restful enjoyable holiday season.
