Bruce M. Ashby, age 70, Logansport, passed away suddenly at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, in his residence after bravely fighting cancer.
Born in Rushville on April 3, 1955, he was the son of Rex and Iris (Mohler) Ashby. His mother is surviving, residing in Logansport.
On December 31, 1983, in Peru, he was married to Darcy Eldridge, who survivies.
Also surviving are two sons, Cale (Bianca) Ashby, Logansport, Ethan (Courtney) Ashby, Logansport; daughter, Allison Ashby, Logansport; grandchildren, Dalton, Savannah, Gigi, Angel, Bella, Layla, Evelyn; great grandchildren, Jace and Nora.
Two brothers are surviving, Mitchell Ashby (Cheri Barnes), Monticello, Merrill Ashby, Carmel; three sisters, Karmen Spletzer (Dan Olabuenaga), Aiken, SC, Molly (Greg) Ledger, Springfield, MO, Melanie (Max) Niblick, Logansport; and many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Bruce’s father, Rex Ashby, and brother, Ben Ashby, preceded him in death.
A 1973 graduate of Logansport High School, Bruce enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following graduation. Bruce attained the rank of Sergeant and earned several medals, Rifle Marksman, Good Conduct and National Defense. He was Honorably Discharged in 1977.
After military service, Bruce was employed by the United States Postal Service, starting as a letter carrier in Logansport and retiring as manager of maintenance in Lafayette.
He dearly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his S10 trucks and tractors, yard-work and being outside whenever possible. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His favorite pastime in recent years was just sitting on the patio with Darcy, watching TV and listening to classic rock music.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26th, at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.
The funeral service and Celebration of Bruce’s Life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Mike Montgomery officiating.
Immediately following the funeral service, interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors accorded by uniformed members of the United States Marine Corps as well as the Cass County Honor Guard. Patriot Guard flags will be positioned at the funeral home during visitation at the funeral service.
