🌸How important do you think community gardens are to wellness and connection?
We're filled with gratitude for the incredible community that has grown alongside us in the SOIL Community Garden over the past 7 years! This space has been so much more than plots of dirt – it's been a place where neighbors became friends, kids learned where food comes from, and families created lasting memories together.
Today marks both an ending and a beginning. Our garden beds have given their all, and tomorrow Cass Pulaski Corrections will help us remove the soil and tear down the current structure. But this isn't goodbye – we're reimagining the space with a fresh layout and new possibilities!
As we pulled the last plants today, one beautiful sunflower stood tall at the end – a perfect reminder that something beautiful always remains. 🌻
Did you know that community gardens can increase property values, reduce crime, improve local air quality, and provide access to fresh produce in food-limited areas? They're powerful tools for both individual and community wellbeing!
SOIL stands for Seeds of Intentional Living. Would you like to see more community gardens in our city? Give us a comment if you've spent time in these gardens over the years!
