We would like to highlight our MDS Coordinator, Gladys Lopez. Gladys has worked at Miller’s for 20 years. She started as a CNA and then took the QMA class offered at Miller's. She continued her nursing career by getting her LPN and RN license through Miller's Books & Tuition program. She was the skilled unit manager before taking the MDS position. In the past, she had also worked in the office and helped with PR, AP and AR.
Gladys said, "I wanted to be the MDS Coordinator because it was a different way for me to help provide appropriate care for our residents. I like challenges and MDS was something different for me. I wanted to expand my skills and knowledge and grow in the company as a person and employee."
An MDS Coordinator, which stands for Minimum Data Set, is a federally mandated process for clinical assessments for all residents that reside in Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing facilities. It is a comprehensive assessment of each resident’s functional capabilities.
