Continuing our independence theme for July, we would like to congratulate Cliff Jones on his return home from a short-term stay. Cliff said that everyone was really good to him during his stay and he can tell he's a lot stronger from the therapy he has received. Miller's Merry Manor was blessed to have a visit from the Junior Civics. They are a group of children and teenagers who perform plays and musicals. The Junior Civic goal is promoting and encouraging theatrical arts programming for young people in the Logansport area. We are so thankful that they came to Miller's to share their time and talents. What an amazing group!

Our July focus is on independence. Our therapy department strives to empower residents to regain their independence. Occupational therapy has an emphasis on ADL retraining, which can address bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and self-feeding.

The therapists also focus on transfer training and functional mobility needed during these self-care tasks with the goal of the resident performing the tasks independently so that they are able to rehab home independently.

There's not many things better than a picnic in the park. Several residents enjoyed an afternoon picnic in the gazebo with activities. They had great food, beautiful weather, and a good time with friends.

We are regaining independence this July! We caught Jerry working out with therapy on the bike. Jerry states he is pleased with his therapy progress and the care he has received during his stay. He has had many family members here over the years and has always known it to be a great organization.

We would like to highlight our Administrator, Zackary Freel, today. Zack has been with Miller’s for just over two years as an Administrator. Zack stated "I have had the pleasure of being the Administrator at both the Garrett and Logansport facilities during that time. I became an Administrator after seeing how much of a difference I could make in the lives of others in this position. Having a philanthropic spirit has helped to shape me into who I am today. When I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for three years before becoming an Administrator, I realized how unique the long-term care industry was and how important it is for the residents to have someone in their corner, and fighting to continue to make their lives the best that it can be. I like working for Miller’s Health Systems because we are all here to help each other when needed. So, if someone can’t answer a question or fix a problem for you they will help you find a different person who can. In my free time I like to garden with my family or sit out by the pool. There have been so many memories I've made here at Miller’s, but the one day that sticks out is the day that I found out my first official facility that I was the Administrator of got a deficiency free survey. However, I would say that most holidays become a little more special when you get to share them with your family, residents, and employees so each holiday feels like the best day ever too."
