Christmas Eve at Totally Kids was filled with excitement and joy as residents opened gifts in their pajamas beside the Christmas tree. Each moment brought smiles, surprises, and the simple magic of the season. Cookie decorating was also available, giving residents a fun and festive activity to enjoy throughout the celebration.

We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Helen Tran, Machado Family Giving , Beauty By Drea , Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House , Sleepy Threads , Tu Tam Group, our beloved bikers from One More From the Heart Run, Dr Preci, Tina Martinez, Katelyn Tapia, and anyone else we missed who helped make this Christmas season so special for our residents.

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with joy and special moments.

Christmas cheer filled Totally Kids as we celebrated our annual holiday party. Festive games, crafts, music, sweet treats, and lots of smiles made the day extra special.

We were thrilled to welcome the princesses from the Once Upon a Time Organization, who sang Christmas carols for our residents, families, and staff and truly set the holiday mood. Santa and Mrs. Claus also made a special visit, spreading cheer and posing for photos that created memories we will treasure. Face painting by Joyful Kids Parties added even more fun and color to the celebration.

So much joy, so many smiles, and a whole lot of holiday magic. πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ‘‘

Recently, Bryan had the best time exploring our pumpkin sensory activity with Kate from the Child Development Dept. He enjoyed feeling the different textures on his hands, but the real magic happened when he scooped some into a sensory bag and, with assistance, felt the bag on his face during our activities program. His smile, laughter, and words said it all.

Sensory play like this supports engagement, regulation, and curiosity, and it also brings simple joy to the moment.

Small moments, big smiles. Next up: Spa Day with Masks!

Pickleberry Pie Hospital Concerts for Kids usually gives our kiddos amazing Zoom concerts, but this time we got something even better. We enjoyed live music right here at Totally Kids.

Wendy Hersh performed several songs with her guitar and sang songs for all to enjoy. Smiles were given and the kiddos even got some dancing in.

Thank you, Pickle Berry Pie, for bringing music, joy, and a whole lot of fun to our residents.

πŸŽƒ Harvest Party Highlights! 🍁

Every department went all out in creating a fun, interactive experience with their displays, and staff dressed up in costumes for the festive holiday! Everyone pitched in to help our kiddos get ready, parade in their costumes, trick-or-treat, and enjoy the pumpkin contest displays. Families joined in the fun and also participated in judging the chili cook-off, costume contests, and pumpkin displays.

πŸ† Winners:
🌢️ Best Chili: #3 Christina from Case Management
πŸ‘— Best Adult Costume: Liliana from Finance as Tafiti
🎭 Best Patient Costume (tie): Kevin (80s) & Christian (Prince Charming)
πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Place for Best Pumpkin Display: Jurassic Park (EVS)

They loved feeding and petting the animals, taking photos, and feeling the sunshine on their faces. It was a day filled with smiles, discovery, and moments that reminded us how healing simple joys and time in nature can be.

Outings like this help our residents explore the world beyond hospital walls, build confidence, and create memories that will last long after the day ends.

A sprinkle of sunshine and a dash of Disney made for one magical weekend! Thank you to Kim and Russ Isberto from Live Like JOJO for delivering Sunshine Boxes and spreading smiles through the gifts and interactions you shared, and to Cherish Santiago and the Once Upon a Time organization for bringing Disney magic, music, and makeovers to our residents. Throwback fun! 🧩 Some things we enjoyed as kids are just as fun for kids today, like puzzles. They do more than bring smiles. Puzzles help with memory, focus, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, and even patience. Plus, they give a great sense of accomplishment when that last piece clicks into place.

Do you remember doing puzzles as a kid? Share your favorite throwback activities when you were a kid in the comments!

We have so much to celebrate at Totally Kids! In the past two months, 4 of our residents have officially discharged home. Each of these moments represents more than just a milestone... it’s the result of countless hours of care, courage, and love.

From the determination of our kids, to the commitment of their families, to the dedication of our staff, every step of the journey has led to this beautiful new chapter. While goodbyes are always bittersweet, seeing our kids return home where they belong fills us with joy and pride.

Congratulations to these amazing families. We are cheering you on every step of the way!

Our residents had the BEST time at the Discovery Cube in Orange County! They explored every exhibit in their own way and loved every moment.

One of the sweetest highlights was when a resident noticed another boy wearing the same shirt. He went right up, pointed to the boy’s shirt and then to his own, and just like that, a connection was made. Such a wonderful reminder of why these outings matter so much. πŸ’™

From exhibits such as sand and water play to hands-on science activities, our residents had plenty of chances to stretch their legs, get curious, and explore. The day was full of smiles, discovery, and fun.
