VA Loma Linda Police K-9 teams, Captain Keitren Thompson with K-9 Cody and Officer Oscar Rodriguez with K-9 Leo, competed in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office 28th Annual K-9 Trials November 14 at the George Ingalls Equestrian Event Center in Norco, California. Approximately 60 law enforcement agencies from across the country showcased their K-9 teams' effectiveness.

Officer Rodriguez and K-9 Leo secured first place in the narcotics detection building search category. This is particularly significant considering they recently became an operational team in June 2025. Since then, K-9 Leo has successfully participated in field deployments, aiding in the seizure of various illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Last year, Captain Thompson and K-9 Cody earned first place in vehicle searches at the 27th Annual Riverside County K-9 Trials.
