Thomas “Tom” Joseph Walsh, age 79, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose hard work, Irish pride, and deep love for family defined his life.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Walsh; his children Monae (David) Sklenar, Patricia (Taner) Hasanof, and Joseph Patrick (Katie) Walsh; and by his stepchildren Sharon (Gregory) Heckl, the late Richard (Tina) Bober, Jr., Lisa (William) Falcon, and Anthony (Cheryl) Bober.
He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the pride of his life, among them Marquis (Terron) and their children Preston and Aria; Alexandria (Marcus) and their daughter Amelia; Patrick Thomas Walsh; Brian (Shannon) and the late Jeffrey; Richard (Jessica); Dakota; Ronald (Cassandra); Ashley; Austin; Brianna (Gerek); Kayla (Alejandro); Tiffany (Ryan); Nicole; Kristi; Anthony; Ariella; and others who will carry forward his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Thomas and Marie Cummings Walsh, and his sister, Maureen Zenner.
Tom’s life was rich with the traditions of his Irish heritage. He found joy on the golf course, cherished the sounds of country music, and had a lifelong love of animals. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 5, at 10:00 AM at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 West Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60607, an organization close to the family’s heart.
