ABMQ offers the certifying examination in medical quality management and clinical quality improvement to physicians and other eligible (doctorate) professionals. The American Board of Medical Quality offers an examination leading to certification for professionals and programs that present evidence of expertise, experience, and training in the field of Medical Quality Management, including clinica
l quality improvement. A core curriculum in medical quality management, as continually defined and developed by the American College of Medical Quality and other professional organizations, provides the foundation and source material for:
The development of examinations that can lead to the certification of individuals as having a defined level of knowledge of Medical Quality Management;
The evaluation of quality improvement programs. Data and information resulting from both the examination and the evaluation of quality improvement activities will feed back into the continuous review and update of the core curriculum. This data and information will be made available to candidates and their employers or sponsors as an educational needs assessment tool.
