We are so encouraged by the work being done in our communities to safely reopen. As the pandemic and guidelines continue to evolve, there are steps we can continue taking to protect ourselves and those around us.

Remember: Practicing good hygiene, staying home when sick and taking extra precautions if you are high risk are just some of the ways we can work together to stay healthy.

Rivers do not drink their own water; trees do not eat their own fruit; the sun does not shine on itself and the flowers do not spread fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is…Life is good when you are happy; but much better when others are happy because of you.

As restrictions are being relaxed, it's important that we continue to practice social distancing and follow the guidelines set forth for each industry as they move forward in opening to the public.

Face Masks and Coverings are important to prevent the spread of COVID-19. They act as a physical barrier to protect you and others from the virus. They prevent others who may have the virus and not know it from transmitting it to others.

The general public should wear a cloth face covering in public where social distancing is hard to maintain.

Medical masks and N-95 respirators should not be worn by the general public. These masks are intended for our health care workers who are caring for patients.

4-29-20 Update: We have revised some of the pricing on tests. Please be aware that testing prices will vary based on how the independent clinics are getting reimbursed for their testing costs. These changes in reimbursement are changing as the COVID-19 situation progresses. They are attempting to only charge the minimum fee possible for any self-pay COVID-19 tests.

Update: There seems to be some confusion about why all COVID-19 tests are not free. The state has partnerships with several organizations across Kentucky to provide free testing. This testing is FREE because the state of Kentucky is paying for it. There are also independent physicians offices that provide testing as well. These independent offices are not getting their tests paid for by the state, therefore, they charge for them just like any other service you would obtain from their clinic. The only state sponsored testing site in Laurel County at this time is the CHI Saint Joseph London Drive Thru Testing (listed on our graphic below). There is also a state sponsored testing site in Mt. Vernon open this week. Here's the information on that site.
Rockcastle Regional Hospital
145 Newcomb Ave., Mt. Vernon, KY 40456
Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Open to everyone, must register at (606) 256-7385

Previous Post:
We currently have 6 sites providing COVID-19 testing in Laurel County. If you need tested, we recommend you contact the site by phone first to get all the needed information before you arrive in person. Sites may have an office charge in addition to the testing charge.

The CHI Saint Joseph London Drive Thru Testing is a partnership with the Kentucky Department for Public Health. All other sites are independent testing sites who are using approved lab services.
