Another success story!!🥳🥳🥳

Kingston has been receiving swallowing therapy to improve his ability to establish and maintain latch for effective bottle feeding. Upon examination, Kingston exhibited lip and tongue ties that impacted his overall oral function, making it difficult for him to bottle feeding efficiently. Kingston had his ties released, and along with family completed all aftercare exercises. Kingston now demonstrates significantly improved ability to establish and maintain latch with decreased fatigue during feeding. We are so proud of Kingston!!

Shimmer has been receiving skilled OT services to target self regulation/attention and fine motor skills for age appropriate development. She has made so much progress and is now able to regulate and attend to age appropriate occupations to complete at a functional level as compared to peers. We are so proud of her! ❤️

Occasionally we meet that special person that is self motivated to make the progress needed for improved quality of life.
This is James. He is 82 years old and his daughter drives him an hour one way to come to therapy weekly. He became sick and was hospitalized for three months going on and off the ventilator. He required a g-tube to be placed for his primary nutrition and hydration. He failed two previous swallow studies prior to beginning therapy. James not only attended therapy weekly, he also did the therapist lead exercises at home daily on his own. He completed 12 weeks of intensive therapy and recently had a swallow study. He made swallowing progress and is now able to eat limited modified foods for pleasure. He is still doing therapy in hopes of advancing his diet at his next swallow study. James is one of the many patients that makes a therapists job rewarding and fulfilling. He motivates us to work hard for our patients. We hope sharing James story will help motivate another person to take that first step to a better quality of life.

📣 ADVOCACY UPDATE 📣

House Bill 266 passed unanimously through the Postsecondary Education Committee today! If successful, the bill would amend Kentucky’s Healthcare Workforce Development Fund to include speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

This change would expand scholarship and funding opportunities for future SLPs and AUDs, helping grow and strengthen the healthcare workforce across the Commonwealth.

Big thanks to KSHA Government Affairs Chair, Dr. Kellie Ellis, pictured with Representative James Tipton, for testifying in support of the Bill today.

More OT success stories!!! 🥳🥳🥳

These 3 have worked so hard to meet all of their goals with OT! Noelle and Caspian addressed self regulation impacting their attention and behaviors in the home and community settings. They both completed the Zones of Regulation program and are better able to self regulate and utilize Zone’s tools to calm themselves. Bryanna has been addressing fine motor coordination and hand strengthening to have better handwriting and being able to complete self care tasks that require fine motor coordination. They have all worked so hard and we are so proud of their progress!❤️
