Happy IBCLC Day!

Today I want to recognize and thank the incredible IBCLCs I have the privilege of working with. Supporting babies and families well truly takes a village, and I’m so grateful for the collaboration we share.

Your knowledge, compassion, and dedication to helping mothers and babies navigate feeding is such an important part of early health and connection. It’s an honor to work alongside professionals who care so deeply about protecting and supporting the breastfeeding relationship.

Thank you for the work you do for families every single day. 🤍

🚨 Recent research is challenging the CDC's strict guidelines on breast milk storage—especially for partially used bottles after feeding.

The CDC currently recommends using or discarding leftover breast milk within 1–2 hours after a baby finishes feeding from the bottle, to limit bacterial risks.

A 2026 German study (preprint on medRxiv, with 44 healthy full-term infants) tested this directly by measuring bacterial growth in leftover human milk after actual bottle feeds.

Main findings:

• Bacterial levels rose after feeding due to contact with the baby's mouth, but showed no meaningful further increase at 4 hours or 8 hours—whether kept at room temperature (~20°C) or refrigerated (4°C).

• Significant growth appeared only after 24 hours at room temperature.

• Refrigerated leftover milk stayed low-risk and stable for up to 24 hours.

For healthy, full-term babies, this suggests it's generally safe to:

• Refrigerate a partially used bottle and reuse it within 24 hours, or

• Leave it at room temperature for up to 8 hours when needed.

Unused pumped milk also proved more stable than the CDC's 4-hour room-temperature rule, with very little bacterial growth even up to 24 hours in many cases, consistent with other recent studies.

The current guidelines are understandably cautious, especially for preterm infants, NICU babies, or those with health issues, who should stick to stricter rules and check with a doctor.

For most parents with healthy babies, though, this new evidence provides real relief: less wasted breast milk, fewer stressful discards, and guidelines that better match actual safety data and everyday feeding life.

“Honest review: My ni***es hurt so bad, I cried during feeds and many times I wanted to give up…”

When this mama first walked through my doors, she was exhausted and hurting. Her sweet boy was struggling with tongue, lip, and cheek ties, and at the breast he was transferring just 1 oz in 20 minutes. Feeds were long. Painful. Discouraging.

We were able to identify what was going on, create a plan, and support her every step of the way. No pressure. No obligation. Just education, options, and honoring her autonomy as a mother.

Today, this same baby is transferring 5 oz in about 10 minutes. Efficient. Comfortable. Thriving. And breastfeeding is now a space of connection instead of tears.

“This is my smiley boy post removal of the ties and breastfeeding is now a moment I can connect with my baby and soak in all those little moments.”

This is why we look deeper. Feeding is not just about ounces. It’s about nervous system regulation, oral function, maternal pain, attachment, and long-term development. When we support the foundation, everything else has room to grow.

Graduation day for this little one. So proud of this mama for advocating, asking questions, and trusting her instincts. What a joy to witness this transformation. 🤍
Thanks to Dr. Amy Luley - Tongue & Lip Tie Center for her fabulous work as always!

Hey mama! 🤍 Can we tell you something we wish more moms were told sooner?

If you’ve done the tongue tie revision, powered through the stretches, and you’re still dealing with clicking, reflux, gas, or a baby who just can’t settle…You're not being overly worried. Your gut instinct that something deeper is going on? You're right.

That was Aeris’s story. From the very beginning, she struggled. Nursing was hard, she cried constantly, and unless she was being held, her little body just felt uncomfortable. Even short car rides were overwhelming. After her tongue tie was revised, things improved a bit, but something still felt off.

When her nervous system was supported with Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care alongside the revision, her mom could actually see her body soften and relax. It finally felt like her baby could rest.

If your gut is telling you there’s more going on, trust it.
Sometimes it’s not just the tie, it’s a tiny nervous system that’s been in stress mode for too long.

And there’s help for that. Please share this post and the article at the link in our bio with all your mom friends. 💗

✨ This is why quality care matters. ✨

A tongue or lip tie release can be life-changing — but the release itself is ONE part of the journey.

True progress comes from:
• Improving swallowing function
• Supporting airway and breathing
• Re-training oral muscles for lasting change

I’m grateful to work alongside incredible release providers who are truly masters of their craft — including Dr. Amy Luley, whose care and collaboration make outcomes like this possible.

When therapy and release providers work together, families see real, meaningful change — in sleep, feeding, reflux, and overall quality of life 🤍

🎓 Graduation Day Celebration 🎉

Today we are celebrating Kali and the incredible progress she has made!

Kali first came to us when her mom shared concerns about frequent gagging with solids and constant nursing. Kali was nursing every 30–45 minutes throughout the day and never seemed fully satisfied or comfortable. Feeding was hard, exhausting, and stressful for everyone involved.

We began by focusing on oral function and nervous system regulation—reducing tension throughout Kali’s body, improving range of motion, and gently decreasing oral aversions. Once Kali reached therapeutic readiness, she underwent a tongue and lip tie release.

Since then, her growth has been truly remarkable. 🌱
✨ Kali continues to breastfeed comfortably, now spacing feeds to every 3–4 hours
✨ She is sleeping better at night
✨ She enjoys a wide variety of foods
✨ She drinks independently from a straw
✨ Her oral resting posture continues to improve

We are so proud of Kali and so grateful to her family for their trust, commitment, and teamwork throughout this journey. Watching her grow in comfort, confidence, and function has been an absolute joy.

Congratulations, Kali — you did amazing things! 💛🌼

What a beautiful way to start the new year.

Updates like this remind us why we do what we do. Seeing a litte guy sleep through the night, gain comfort with eating, and find joy in food again is everything. So grateful to walk alongside families on their feeding journey. ❤️🍕

🦋 Happy Share the Seal Day! 🦋

Today I’m honored to celebrate alongside professionals worldwide who have completed TOTS Training® and earned the official TOTS Seal. This seal is a symbol of dedication, clinical growth, and a shared commitment to raising the standard of care in orofacial myology and feeding therapy.

For me, this training was just the beginning. Earning the seal opened the door to a deeper passion—expanding my knowledge in myofunctional therapy, airway health, infant-toddler feeding, and overall development. It didn’t mark the end of my education…it ignited a journey to keep learning everything I can to better serve the families I work with. 💙

I’m so proud to be part of this community of compassionate, evidence-based providers who are making a difference one patient at a time.
