if you ask any flight nurse or flight paramedic what their favorite thing is about flying, you’re likely going to get a multitude of responses.
Most flight clinicians will tell you that they wanted to fly to help people. They will tell you that they got into this job because a flight team/crew has had a lasting impact on them in some type of way and it’s always been their dream.
After these flight clinicians begin flying and get some time and experience, their response as to what their favorite thing is about flying may differ some from why they wanted to fly to begin with.
As a medical professional, our main purpose will always be to help people. The medical field is centered around patients and what we can do to improve their health, quality of life, and do what we can to “fix them” to the best of our ability. While that will always remain number one in our reason and want to fly, after you begin flying you will learn so quickly that there are so many added things to that.
Here at PHI, we truly hold community and the people we serve so very close to us. Yes, the helicopters are cool and getting in the air is breathtaking every single time, but this job is also about the people we work with, the communities we serve, and working together to provide the best care possible.
On Friday, September 19th, crews from PHI1 and PHI2 had the opportunity to be apart of the Pleasant View Elementary safety night. We were able to show off the aircraft, talk to everyone about our jobs and what we do, and be apart of trying to promote and make our small communities a better place. While we all do this job for a lot of different reasons, evenings like this rank high on all of our lists🖤💛
