Doulas help reduce stress and anxiety, provide guidance through decision-making, and offer steady support when it matters most.

In fact, a 2023 review published in Cureus Journal of Medical Science analyzed 22 years of research and found doula support was associated with fewer C-sections, shorter labors, lower rates of preterm birth, and improved breastfeeding outcomes, especially among low-income families.

“I think those improved outcomes are due to having an expert in the labor process who isn’t a medical person but is just there for you from moment to moment.” - one researcher noted.

Welcome Claire Yeamans, our new Certified Nurse Midwife! You'll be seeing her friendly face at the office and catching babies at SkyRidge Medical Center. Originally from Michigan, Claire started out as a pediatric nurse overseeing complex behavioural and medical cases. But the call to be a midwife (just like her mom) was too strong. Claire hopes to collaborate with her patients in a way that improves their health and well-being. In her spare time, Claire enjoys hiking, snowboarding, baking and walking her dog.
