It has become clear to me that most doulas, including myself are not well equipt for mental health depths that are way beyond our scope. The steps of how to support mamas and babies through and even transition care to emergency services. I am deeply humbled in this experience and am seeking outside-of-the-lines support to best support clients during a world-shaking event that brings up deep traumas and can be too much to contain. I will sit with you in the fire because birth is not all rainbows and sunshine. This is my invitation for everyone to have emergency Postpartum Support International and more resources available for extreme circumstances.

The first 40 days is a sacred time where you and your baby are in between two worlds and learning each other now that baby is earthside.

Nourishment for yourself is nourishment for your baby. Being intentional with each moment is meant is best for healing and bonding.

When I was in deep suffering waking up was the hardest part.

I would wake up in shock to feel my heart broken all over again.

I would close my eyes, picture myself safe inside of my favorite tree. Healing with Mother Earth.

I would place my hands on my heart

Breath deeply and repeat....

The deeper the roots the taller the branches

I would stay in this space until I felt strong again to start the day.

Moving forward as I knew my guides were with me every step of the way.

We are broken open to expand our limiting beliefs and the deeper we root down and connect. The higher we rise.

Being a mother is playing big everyday.
Watching your heart joyfully run around outside of your body.
Tensing up with a smile on your face .
Praying for peace while playing with sand toys
Facing all of your fears before breakfast begins.

Being a mother is activism in every way.
Teaching our children to be kind, brave and strong while the world crumbles behind them.

Being exhausted before bedtime and watching them sleep for hours.

Trecking through the mud and the muck to truly see your child and help them grow.

Praying everyday that they don’t have your fears.

Being an example even when it’s the darkest hour.

We dream of these moments and hold onto them so tight. Filling our heart for reserves of these feelings when times feel too hard to go on.

It is the greats gift and the heavies lesson all twisted together. The lotus in the mud.
