True healing, individual and community wellness, will come from the ending of social conditions that perpetuate harm. True healing comes through liberation and co-creating a more equitable and just society, creating communities of care, and building networks of support.
Other ways of living are possible and can be realized. When we stay firmly rooted in our cultural values and embrace a decolonized mindset, we become powerful actors onto our daily realities through the decisions we make, through our behaviors, and in our relationships. Our healing becomes plural, and ripples outward.

My heart is with Dolores Huerta, and all survivors of Cesar Chavez's sexual violence who so bravely came forward to tell their stories. Too often us Latinas are taught to endure violence from men. We are taught it is our duty to protect them, their reputation, and in this case the movement. We are taught that we should suffer in silence. Dolores Huerta is an icon in our community for her tireless work for farm worker's rights. Today she reminds us that we are not alone, and it is never too late to use your voice.
When men who are oppressed fight for their rights in public while taking out their oppression privately on women and children they undermine justice and liberation for everyone while perpetuating pain and trauma that lasts for generations. I pray for justice and healing for all survivors.

ICE murdered a woman in cold blood today. In 2025 there were 14 shootings involving ICE agents and 32 people died in ICE custody. They are a terrorist police force enforcing the wishes of a fascist regime. It all has to go.

2025 has been a year of many complexities. I've celebrated the release of my first book and the birth of my son. I've enjoyed so many tender moments, safe and comfortable, rocking my baby while nurses or sleeps.
But never far from my mind are the other mothers, parents, people who do not get to live these same experiences. Gaza and Sudan continue to experience unimaginable violence and suffering while families here in my own community live in fear of being separated from loved ones by ICE.
The government treats us Latinxs like we aren't even human. Abducting people on their way to work and banishing them to torture camps like CECOT. No human being should be treated this way. We are up against a dark evil but we will survive it together, in community, and in recognition of the innate worth of every person. I hope living this reality in 2025 illuminates to everyone why you should never side with your oppressors. Your complicity will not protect you. In the end you'll always be the other. Our strength and protection is with eachother.
