I can’t believe we are living through multiple genocides in this present time.
Has that sunk in for others yet?
we. are. living. through. a. genocide.
Thousands of people. Children.
DYING IN A GENOCIDE.
“Genocide is the intentional destruction of a people in whole or in part.”
INTENTIONAL.
DESTRUCTION.
OF PEOPLE.
This is not just another story in the news or part of a history waiting to be briefly written in textbooks. We cannot normalize this.
This is HAPPENING NOW.
It’s been happening for too damn long.
I know I feel helpless, but I know scrolling away and not using my platform or voice to keep the momentum to wouldn’t sit right with me.
And I know that being in the comfort of my protected home while typing this, is not directly helping people from dying.
But I know I can continue to educate myself, to find resources, to support relief aids where I can, to hold space for the people in Gaza, Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Burma, West Papua, Armenia, China…
It’s okay to pause your aesthetic content feed to be a voice for the voiceless.
Let’s use our powers for those whose powers have been taken away.
This is not an act to guilt trip you to be an advocate.
This is an act to CEASE GENOCIDE.
This is an act to LIBERATE LIVES.
It’s okay if the fire in you is just now building up. It’s okay if you’ve been in this fight for months, years, decades and you need rest. We’re all humans learning how to feel and navigate through everything.
But please, DO NOT STOP.
However you use your powers,
please use them to support LIFE.
