In this session, we used โ€œUnder the Bridgeโ€ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to help our client with multiple sclerosis practice clear, strong speech.

Singing (or chanting) each line gave us a fun and motivating way to target breath support, loudness, and overarticulation โ€” all skills that support clearer communication in daily life.

Because fatigue associated with multiple sclerosis can cause speech to become slurred (a condition known as dysarthria), using music helps us maintain the muscles used for speech while reinforcing compensatory strategies like slowing down, overarticulating, and projecting the voice. ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ’ฌ

What is HEP?
HEP stands for Home Exercise Program. It is a set of exercises that a therapist provides to a patient, contributing to their rehabilitation from the comfort of their own home. At Precision, we offer an HEP App for your mobile device, allowing you to work toward your goals from anywhere. Ask your therapist for more details.
