Independence at Home

Independence at Home IAH offers no-cost programs and services designed to assist older adults and their caregivers.

Independence at Home is a community service of SCAN, a senior-focused organization founded in Long Beach, California in 1977. The goal then was to create a program to provide seniors easy access to community-based services that would allow them to remain healthy and independent at home. Today, Independence at Home offers a range of programs to meet the needs of seniors, disabled adults and their caregivers -- including government programs and in-home assistance, case management and referrals to resources. If you or a loved one needs help living safely at home, please contact Independence at Home at 866-421-1964.

It’s Case Management Week and we’re celebrating the compassionate professionals who go above and beyond to support our community every single day!

At Independence at Home, our case managers are at the heart of everything we do. From guiding older adults in our MSSP program to age confidently in their own homes to connecting those in need to housing and stability through Homeless Services — our teams make a real difference. Their work transforms lives, strengthens families, and builds a healthier, more caring community for all.

At our recent TEC Day Class at Tarrytowne Estates in Houston, TX, residents got hands-on help with their smartphones from one of our friendly digital coaches.

Sherry, a resident there, was especially excited to learn how to use FaceTime so she can see her grandchildren more often. We offer free monthly TEC support at this location!
