th the mission of helping even more families in ever more profound ways. It was an ambitious goal, but thanks to our more than 75 years of combined experience in assisting seniors and their families, and our comprehensive clinical backgrounds in nursing, therapy and social work, we feel we have made a positive, lasting difference in hundreds of people’s lives. We also believe that with every new success story, we gain new insights into the challenges aging presents to not only the senior, but their entire family. Being seen as “one of the family” to so many of our clients, we empathize with them and understand the incredible stress imposed by the tough and new choices they have to make, and that’s exactly why we founded Keen Home Care in the first place – we love to help. Now, over eight years later, as a seasoned team we are superbly equipped to deal with any situation, whether it’s a chronic condition, assisting with physical therapy or problematic behaviors related to Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Our diversity and experience also allows us to tailor our care to each client’s needs and budgets, which was our goal from the start. We are thrilled to recognize Jonalyn Alegre as Keen’s Blue Star Employee of the Month! 🌟

Jonalyn was born in the Philippines, where she worked as a call center agent before making the move to the United States in April 2010. Since then, she has devoted 15 years to the healthcare field, bringing professionalism, dedication, and compassion to every role she takes on. Her experience and commitment have made her a valued member of the Keen team.

Outside of work, Jonalyn enjoys staying active through working out, singing, and dancing, and she has a particular love for Thai food. Her favorite song, "I've Never Been to Me," reflects her joyful spirit and appreciation for life’s journey.

Jonalyn is most proud of being a loving and caring mom to her children, a role she embraces wholeheartedly. Looking toward the future, she hopes to return to school to become a nurse, combining her experience and passion for helping others in a new and meaningful way.

Aging happily, healthily, and more independently can depend on how well we take care of our brains and bodies!

Here are five ways you can help improve your memory & brain–details below:

1. Stay Physically Active– regular movement boosts blood flow to the brain and supports memory health. Even simple activities like walking or light exercise for 30 minutes most days can help reduce cognitive decline.

2. Challenge Your Brain!– Keeping the brain engaged with new and stimulating activities helps strengthen memory pathways. Learning new skills, puzzles, or reading regularly keeps the mind sharp.

3. Prioritize Quality Sleep– good sleep helps the brain store memories and reset for the next day. Aim for 7–8 hours of consistent, restful sleep to support cognitive function.

4. Eat a Brain-Healthy Diet– maintaining a diet rich in whole foods, healthy fats, and antioxidants supports brain health. Foods in the Mediterranean diet, for example, may help protect memory and lower dementia risk.
